Description:
Located on the Continental Divide, Chief Joseph Pass offers 49 km (31+ mi) of trails, with 33+ km groomed for skate and 16 km for classic skiing. Trails are typically groomed in advance of weekends by Bitterroot Cross-Country Ski Club, in partnership with Lost Trail Powder Mountain. Trails are groomed from early December through mid-April. There is an additional network of groomed multi-use trails suitable for longer touring. The Gordon Reese Cabin serves as a winter warming hut and is 0.7 mi from the parking lot.
Please do not walk or snowshoe on groomed ski trails.
Location:
Chief Joseph Pass is about 95 miles South of Missoula, a mile east of the junction of Hwy 93 and Hwy 43 at Lost Trail Pass.
Dogs:
Dogs are not allowed on groomed XC trails at Chief Joseph Pass. They are allowed on the groomed multi-use trails
