Save the date for the the most fun cross country ski event of the season! The MNSC is organizing a ski race at Lubrecht Experimental Forest on February 8th. We are hoping this will be the first of a long term annual event for the local ski community. We do not yet have a name for this race, but we have a lot of fun planned for the day! Skate or classic with 10k and 20k races options. A 1 km kids race will ensure there is something for everyone in the family. Raffle prizes and free soup lunch for all participants will follow the races. (See Below for course map)
Course Description: The race begins with a wide 300 m loop around the baseball field to space out racers before cruising onto the main Lubrecht trail system. From there, the course flows through forested areas, open meadows, and a sage brush hill past a spectator party hut. One lap for the 10 km course, 2 laps for 20 km. Afraid your climbing muscles will be too tired from rando racing at Snowbowl and the Seeley Lake OSCR? Not to worry! This course will feature varied terrain that includes flats and mild climbs. There is a total of 350 ft of climbing on the 10km course, and 690 ft on the 20 km course.
Lodging: Lodging is available at Lubrecht, so you can wake up at race central! Rooms sleep 2-3 guest with pricing from $55 - $105 depending on number of occupants. To make a reservation, call 406-880-7059.
